About Superloads

Superloads are defined differently state by state. In Virginia,  Superloads are loads defined as those which exceed routine-issued oversize hauling permit dimensions and weights (gross or axle). There are a number of load-specific parameters for Superloads in other states. Many require as many as 4 or even 5 pilot cars plus a police escort.

Virginia Pilot Cars has operating agreements with several pilot car companies to assist on many loads. We also know and have worked with many law enforcement agencies in Virginia and Texas. We ensure those drivers are also certified, insured and knowledgeable of your movement. Permit review and route familiarization is completed with the pilot car drivers and the truck driver prior to your move. Our goal is your safety, and ultimately your return business.

Moving a Superload often requires pilot car operators to conduct traffic control and flagging. Our drivers possess the knowledge and required safety gear to get the job done.
